Reservations & Payment

Q: How can I make a reservation at Caju Afrique?

A: You can book directly through our website or by email (visitcajuafrique@gmail.com). Once you contact us, we’ll send a personalized quote based on the number of guests, dates, and preferred accommodation. To secure your booking, we require a deposit — details will be included in the proposal.

Q: What payment methods do you accept?

A: We accept international or local bank transfers, and payments in USD or MZN. The final amount will be confirmed in your proposal, using the updated exchange rate. If you prefer to pay in installments or through a travel operator/partner, please reach out so we can assess the possibility.

Arrival / Check-in / Check-out

Q: What are the check-in and check-out times?

A: Check-in starts at 12:00, and check-out is until 11:00. If you’d like to arrive earlier or leave later, just let us know when booking — whenever possible, we offer early check-in or late check-out as a courtesy.

Q: Can I arrive by boat via the river?

A: Yes! For an even more special and cinematic experience, you can arrive by boat through the river — just let us know in advance. Our riverfront reception and welcome drink will be ready to receive you with charm and warm hospitality.

Accommodation

Q: What types of accommodation does Caju Afrique offer?

A: We have three main houses: two boutique chalets (up to 6 guests each) — Chalé Rio Sereno and Chalé Cajueiro Dourado — and the Casa das Raízes, ideal for families or larger groups (up to 12 guests). All offer comfort and a serene riverside atmosphere.

Q: Is the property suitable for families or groups?

A: Yes. Our guests range from multigenerational families to groups of friends or birdwatching enthusiasts. Casa das Raízes is especially well suited for groups and families, offering space, privacy, and comfort.

Experiences, Activities & Services

Q: What kind of experiences can I have at the lodge?

A: We offer a wide range of experiences — from river adventures (kayak, jet-ski, boat tours), seasonal workshops (cashew harvesting, cooking, crafts), wellness (massage, yoga, meditation), cultural moments (storytelling nights, community dinners), birdwatching and bird safaris, photographic expeditions, and simple moments of rest and contemplation. All designed to create lasting memories.

Q: Are activities included in the daily rate?

A: It depends on the booking type. Some experiences are included in themed packages (great for full immersion), while others can be added à la carte. During the booking process, we’ll define together what’s included based on your interests.

Logistics & Access

Q: How do I get to Caju Afrique?

A: The lodge is located along the Inharrime River, in Inharrime — approximately 90 km from Inhambane city. We can arrange transfers from Inhambane or another agreed point. For guests arriving by boat, we can also arrange river reception, one of the highlights of the experience.

Q: Is there parking or transportation available?

A: Yes, we offer secure parking for guests arriving by car. We also provide transfer services on request, especially for guests arriving by air or by bus/van. Just let us know during booking so we can organize logistics in advance.

Sustainability, Community & Social Impact

Q: Is Caju Afrique a sustainable lodge?

A: Yes — sustainability is at the heart of our mission. We work with local materials, support the surrounding community, prioritize regional products, and engage in conservation efforts along the river. Guests are invited to learn about and, if they wish, participate in our community and environmental initiatives.

Q: How can guests contribute to the local community during their stay?

A: By staying with us, you directly support the local economy — we use regional products in our kitchen, offer local crafts in our “Sabores & Raízes” shop, and prioritize hiring from the community. We also provide experiences that foster genuine cultural exchange — your presence supports those who preserve these traditions.

Cancellation Policy / Changes

Q: How does the cancellation or date-change policy work?

A: We understand that unforeseen events happen. If the change or cancellation is made with sufficient notice (defined according to the season), we offer flexibility and, when possible, rescheduling with no penalty. For confirmed bookings during high-demand periods (high season or festivals), penalties may apply — details will be included in your proposal.

Q: What if there are unforeseen weather or logistical issues?

A: Your safety and well-being are our priority. In case of extreme conditions — such as heavy rains, flooding, or access problems — we will reach out immediately to offer alternatives (a new date, a different accommodation, or cancellation with refund as applicable).
